On Saturday, September 25, 2010 Habesha hosted their 3rd Annual Harvest Fest, a free outdoor family event. Held at the Dunbar Neighborhood Center, the event featured Garden Demonstrations, Healthy Food, African marketplace, and Live Bands.

There were performances by Binkis Recs, Purple Crown, Sheriese Nicole, Richelle Scales, Ekundayo, Starchile, B.I.G. Nel, CJ Reid, and Chop.

On June 11, 2010 Lyric Jones celebrated her 22nd birthday with an all-star lineup at the Apache Cafe in Atlanta, GA. The event was billed “Double Take” and featured performances by a mixture of hip-hop & soul artists such as Avery Sunshine, CoCo Jones, Stanza, Chantae Cann, Small Eyez, The Remnant Cru, Boog Brown, The 5ive, Ness Lee and Lyric Jones herself. Hosted by Alias.

This is a mixtape cover that I designed for a hip-hop artist who competed in “Atlanta’s Next Fresh Thing” and won a package which included my graphic design services. The artist, JBz didn’t have any photos that were of high enough resolution so I met him in Midtown Atlanta and took a few pictures using my point and shoot digital camera.

The title of his project is called “Different From Y’all” so the concept behind the cover was the have random/anonymous people in the background, all look alike, dressed alike while he was in the foreground standing out, thus “Different From Y’all.”

JBz is originally from St. Louis so his only real request was that I work the “arch” into the design. This is the result. Designed in Adobe Photoshop CS3.

The purpose of the “East of Liberty” series is to give a voice to residents’ and business owners’ thoughts and concerns with regard to East Liberty’s recent redevelopment. I worked with Chris to develop the “look” for the series which implements still frames from the actual videos for each chapter. The artwork was designed in Adobe Photoshop CS3 and placed in InDesign CS3 for arrangement and typesetting.

This is an image that I was able to work on as “art for the sake of art.” A new found friend of mine, then hostess/waitress at the Apache Cafe in Atlanta, had posted her picture online and it really caught my eye so I felt compelled to do something creative with it. My favorite aspect of the photo is her eyes which seem to have a real “honesty” to them. When I look at the photo it says to me “this is who I am, take it or leave it” which also kinda describes her personality.

The 5ive – “365ive” Anniversary Part 3: SHRED THE VERBAL TONGUE

On March 5, 2010 Atlanta-based supergroup, The 5ive, celebrated their one year anniversary with a performance at The Apache Cafe in Atlanta, Georgia. The 5ive consists of solo artists, Big Rec, Shred the Verbal Tongue, K.P., Snub Zero (Anderson Scott) and Jawz of Life.

Each of the members performed their own set and then performed a collective set as the grand finale. There were also special guest appearances by Collin Gibson, Journey Brave, CoCo Jones, Diamond D and more!

The footage was filmed using a Panasonic DVX-100B and edited using Final Cut Pro 7.x with titles and logo animations created using Adobe After Effects CS3.
